THIS IS ONTARIO'S PREMIER OFF-ROAD RALLY/TRAIL RIDE!

GENERAL EVENT INFO

This is a one day GPS guided event in the Kawartha and Madawaska highlands.

The Rock Hound Rally: Gold, Silver, Bronze & Iron routes are designed for riders that enjoy off road trails with challenging aspects throughout. These routes are best suited for, but not limited to, Enduro-style blue or green plated Dirt Bikes, Dual Sport Motorcycles and Adventure Motorcycles with a minimum fuel range of 100km. Four levels of difficulty are available to choose from; Iron (Easy) Bronze (Easy to Med) , Silver (Med to Hard) & Gold (Hard to Expert) All four routes will have challenging options within them to choose from. Read below and watch videos to understand more about the classifications..

LARGE ADV BIKES WELCOME! The Iron & Bronze classes are designed for adventure bike riders that enjoy twisty, paved / gravel roads with scenic look-outs and fun stops along the way. This route is best suited for, but not limited to, larger adventure bikes like Kawasaki KLR650, Suzuki DR650, KTM Adventure bikes, Yamaha Super Tenere, BMW GS 1200 etc.... To fully under stand the level of difficuty of these classes please see the detailed discriptions below.

We highly recommend that entrants arrive and stay Friday night in order to register on time and ask any questions about the event. A riders meeting will be in video format only and will be availble to view on you tube 2 weeks prior to the event. GPS routes will be loaded at the event.

All class participants will navigate their way using GPS Routes provided by Rally Connex the night before or the morning of the event. Also, both rides will have a mission / question sheet to complete in order to achieve points to win prizes. The mission / questionnaire portion of the event is not mandatory but highly recomended. This aspect of the ride is very fun and comedic at times. Participants can ride as a team or run solo. Team riders must all run the same catagory route to qualify for team prizes.

Riders meeting is avaible in video format only on Youtube and shown during registration at The Loon's Call Campground & Cottage Resort . Friday 4pm to 9pm and Saturday Morning Aug 18th from 7am to 8:30am. The Youtube video link will be emailed to you after registration is complete and one week before the event date.

The ride begins early Saturday morning at 8:30am, lasts all day, and returns to the same campground that evening for dinner. That night we will have live entertainment & Fireworks sponsordored by Langs Off Road. Sunday morning will be the awards presentation at 8am. It will be finished in time if any riders plan on attending the Weslemkoon Trail ride. That ride is 1.5 hours away by car (on paved roads) and 1 hour by motorcycle via gravel roads. If you take your car or truck on the gravel road route you will be late. (Note: there is fuel at the Weslemkoon Marina very close to the start of the Weslemkoon trail ride)

RIDE CLASSES

 
Riders choose from 4 different routes to complete a large loop throughout the day starting from Cloyne and stretching to Gunter.  There will be GPS navigating challenges that will involve using your GPS to collect points for your overall score.  Skill testing challenges will be strategically positioned at technical riding areas along the way. If you choose to ride in a team, one member must have a GPS and basic knowledge of operation. Teams must ride together in the same class. 

Other ways to achieve points will be photo challenges, video challenges, facebook drops and much more. Come with your smart phones and head cams fully charged! There is no speed or timed related challenges in this event. Green plated bikes welcome in Gold, Silver & Bronze Classes.

 

GOLD CLASS
(Hard to Expert Terrain. Open only to Enduro and modified MX bikes.)

The Gold class varies between a standard trail ride experience to Hard Enduro. Hard Enduro type terrain will be manditory to ride in this class, which will include: Rocky rivers with fast flowing water, steep hill climbs and decents, deep muddy passes, large water holes, tecnical single track trail systems, drop off`s & step ups, multiple down tree`s on trail & bush whacking.

Transit sections will be forest access roads, flowing 2 track trails, hydro corridore multi use trails & laneways. This class is not for the faint of heart. Many riders do not complete this class or do there bikes.... If you like hard enduro and are looking for that next high level challenge, this is the class for you.

This class is ideal for, but not limited to, 200cc through 501cc aggressive enduro style or MX modifided bikes with a minimum fuel range of 100km and agressive knoby tires.

 

SILVER CLASS
(Medium to Hard Terrain. Open to aggressive dual sport and Enduro type motorcycles with off-road tires.)

The Silver Class is perfect for the type of rider that has a great skill set for off-road technical riding but doesnt want it contantly throughout the day... Some difficult terrain will be manditory to ride in this class like rocky boulder rivers with fast flowing water, deep muddy passes, large water holes, technical single track trails, steep hill climbs and decents, multiple down tree`s on trail & bush wacking. Allmost all Gold level challenges will be avaible to ride optionally. Huge bonus points for clearing Gold Level Challenges.

Transit sections will be forest access roads, flowing 2 track trails, hydro corridore multi use trails & laneways. For larger Dual Sport bikes this class will be a difficult experience but rewarding. Recomended to team up or ride with a buddy.

This Class is ideal for, but not limited to, 200cc through 650cc aggressive Dual sport bikes and enduro style bikes with a minimum fuel range of 100km and agressive knoby tires.

BRONZE CLASS
(Easy to Medium Terrain. Open to all types of dual sport and Adventure type motorcycles with aggressive off road tires.)

The Bronze Class is the best selection for almost all levels of off-road, dual sport and aggressive adventure bike riders that enjoy a fun but less challenging day on the trails. Some technical terrain will be manditory to ride in this class like muddy passes, water holes, small hill climbs and decents, smaller obsticals on the trail.

Transit sections will be forest access roads, flowing 2 track trails, hydro coridore multi use trails & laneways. For larger Adventure Bikes this will be a challenging day but very rewarding. It is highly recomended to ride in a team or with a buddy.

This Class is ideal for but not limited to 200cc through 1290cc Agressivly setup Adventure bikes. Standard Dual sport bikes and enduro style bikes with a minimum fuel range of 100km and agressive knoby tires.

IRON CLASS
(Easy terrain open to all types of motorcycles with minimum of 50/50 on-road, off-road tire.)

The Iron Class is the most popular class for large adventure bike riders and beginer dual sport riders. Lots of enjoyable on and off road sections filled with twisty turns and vast lookouts to enjoy. This class requres a road legal motorcycle. Some very small streches of technical terrain will be manditory to ride in this class like, small obsticals on trail, errotion ditches in the pathway, shallow mud puddles and slippery rock will be encountered if heavy rain is in the forcast that week.

Transit sections will be paved roads, gavel roads, forest access roads, flowing 2 track trails, hydro coridore multi use trails & laneways.

This Class is ideal for but not limited to 200cc through 1290cc . With Stock 50/50 tires, all makes of Adventure & Dual sport bikes with a minimum fuel range of 150km.

THE CHALLENGES
(Enduro Challenges are almost open to all classes except Iron Class Riders.)

The rider challenges are probily what the Rock Hound Rally is best known for. An exciting array of challenges for all class riders to partake in, depending on your skill level. Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron classes all have their own unique challenges. Hard Enduro Challenges consist of Water under the bridge challenge, Taste of Sibiu, Up up and away, Shit Show Trail, Zippity do da, Ah hoy, black Mumba and much more. Some of the Hardest challenges in the event can be spectated by all classes. A great time for all.

ACCOMMODATIONS
The event will be hosted at The Loon's Call Campground & Cottage Resort near Cloyne.  Special accommodation pricing has been arranged, ranging from cottages big and small, to trailer and camping sites. Rally Connex recommends booking your accommodations at this location for your convenience!




MEALS
Lunch on the trail is included in your entry fee. Saturday morning breakfast & BBQ dinner on Saturday evening can be purchased for an addional $40.00. Breakfast will be served between 7am and 8am. Dinner will run between 5pm and 7pm. A corn roast after dinner will also be available 7pm that evening. Extra meal plans for guests, passengers or family can be available when you register online by incresing the quantiy feild. You CAN NOT book your food at the event. You must register online before Aug 13th 2018 11:59pm to receive a meal plan.

 

RATES
Sign up for the rally, trail ride itself is $100.00 plus tax. This price does not include your Saturday Breakfast & Dinner. You can select to add a meal plan on the registraion form for $40.00. Additional meal plans can be purchased as well by incresing the quanty feild. (Meal plan does not include lunch)

Rates for tent site will be $26.00 including tax per person. ($23.00 before tax) This rate includes 2 nights of camping on an un-serviced site. 

Rate for a trailer sites with 30amp hydro and water will be $42 plus tax per night. Site can have a maximum of 4 persons on it. 

Rate of a 2 bedroom cottage will be $110 tax included, per night. This rate would include up to 4 persons. 

Rate of a 3 bedroom cottage will be $125 tax included, per night. This rate would include up to 6 persons. 

GPS RENTALS

GPS rentals are available while quantities last. Cost per day rental starts at $25.00 to $45.00 plus a $100 cash damage / loss deposit upont time of pick up.. Deposit will be refunded once the GPS has been returned and without damage. 1 set of batteries will be included. Depot must be made in CASH.

 

 

FAMILY FUN!
Rally Connex has spent plenty of time researching the start & finish location of this event in order to make it fun for the whole family, even if you don't ride a bike! The Loon's Call Campground and all surrounding area's have plenty of beaches, playgrounds, attractions etc.... So riders! bring your family and friends out for a weekend of pleasure and fun.
